Automatic Bank Draft

Automatic bill payment (also known as bank draft) is a convenient, easy and free way to pay your electric bill by having your payment automatically withdrawn each month from your checking or savings account. No more time and money wasted on a stamp, envelope or gasoline!

How do I sign up?

Signing up for automatic bill payment is easy! Simply complete this enrollment form and mail it back to Washington Electric Cooperative. If you choose the bank draft payment from your checking account, please enclose a voided check. If you choose to have your payments withdrawn from your savings account, please enclose a deposit slip (make sure the deposit slip has the bank's routing number and your account number).

How will I know the amount of my bill?

Washington Electric Cooperative will send a monthly billing statement, just as we do now. The billing department will initiate the bank draft process on your due date. Please allow a few days for the payment to be deducted from your account.

What if I have a question about my bill?

You should call Washington Electric Cooperative during regular business hours (7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday -Friday). Please do not call your financial institution.

What if there isn't enough money in my account?

Washington Electric Cooperative will mail you a billing notice prior to the date we will transfer funds from your account. This will give you adequate time to ensure sufficient funds are in your account. If there are not sufficient funds, the transaction will be treated like a "bounced" check or an over-limit charge, and there may be additional charges from your bank or Washington Electric Cooperative.

How will I know the bill has been paid?

The fund transfer will be itemized on the monthly account statement you receive from your bank.

Is there a charge for this service?

Washington Electric Cooperative does not charge its members for automatic bill payment. It is best to ask your financial institution if they have a charge. If they do, it is usually less than a paper check charge.

How do I know when automatic payment begins?

Once approved, the words "bank drafted" will appear on your bill. This usually takes less than 30 days.

Can I cancel this payment plan?

Yes, you can cancel the automatic payment plan at any time. Notify Washington Electric Cooperative, in writing that you wish to cancel this plan.
